DECA BUSINESS CLUB
Congratulations to the Hersey DECA
Business Club for their performance
at the DECA Area Competition on
Tuesday, December 6 th at the Rosemont
Convention Center. The business club
students brought home 40 medals
for placing in the top three in either
the economics exam or two different
business role-play scenarios. Top
awards went to the students who
finished in the top three after all three
scores were added together.
Overall place winners were Kevin Druffel & Sam Salileng, 1 st place in Marketing Communications
(team), Eric Hauser & Connor Mix, 1 st place in Sports & Entertainment Marketing (team), Allison
Johnson & Samantha Moran, 1 st place in Buying and Merchandising (team), Blake Robinson,
1 st place in Marketing Management, Jake Davie & Pete Psaradellis, 2 nd place in Business Law &
Ethics (team), Jason Brown & Tommy Naughton, 2 nd place in Buying & Merchandising (team),
Chris Pawlowski, 2 nd place in Accounting, Daniel Clancy & Michael Sauer, 3 rd place in Sports &
Entertainment Marketing (team), and Brien Martin, 3 rd place in Sports & Entertainment Marketing.
The DECA Business Club will be going to the State Competition in Decatur, IL on March 8-10 and
the expectations are high. Wish them good luck!
HOLIDAY SHOP
WITH A COP!
With the generosity of Target, a lucky bunch of
kids from Arlington Heights School District 25 got
to “Shop With A Cop” at the Arlington Heights
Target Store. With Pete Hamrick, Hersey’s
School Resource Officer, and other Arlington
Heights Police Officers in the lead pushing
the shopping carts, the kids went Christmas
shopping. With guidance from Margie Picardo
and her fellow Target employees, and with support from the Arlington Heights Citizen Policy
Academy Alumni Association and the Hersey High School Girls’ Freshmen AB Basketball Teams,
the kids were able to complete their Christmas shopping. It’s not sure who had the best time,
but, rest assured, a great time was had by all!
This was the seventh year Target and FOP Lodge 80 have held the event. Hersey High School
students have participated in this event since its origin. This was the largest group of students to
date. The JHHS students helped with shopping and wrapping the gifts.
