FURTHER REPORT (Post Committee Meeting 21 February 2012)
The tree was assessed as being in reasonable condition with no safety or health concerns
being identified during the most recent inspection in January this year that would warrant its
removal.
In terms of the potential impact of the root system on the footpath, Parks advise that the tree
is at least 60 years old and is unlikely to damage the footpath in the foreseeable future.
COUNCIL DECISION:
(COMMITTEE AND ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION)
Moved by Cr MacRae, seconded by Cr Pelczar
That, in accordance with Part 4 of the Town of Cambridge Town Planning Scheme No.
1, Council APPROVES the application for a carport and verandah submitted by Mr
Raymond Spence at Lot 546 Strata Lot 1 (No. 6B) Keane Street, Wembley, as shown
on the plans dated 6 April 2011 subject to the following conditions:
(i)
the street tree to be retained;
(ii) the driveway to be tapered so that the crossover is a minimum distance of 0.5
metres from the verge tree;
(iii)
(iv)
(v)
the carport to remain open on all sides. No solid door is to be installed;
the existing crossover located to the south of the property being closed, and the
kerb and the verge reinstated;
the crossover to be constructed of concrete to limit the likelihood of root
damage to the street tree.
