Zone A focus is for locals and visitors to the area with less focus on vegetation and more on
public infrastructure, wider pavements and provision for al fresco seating;
Zone B recognises the heritage value of the area (notably the community centre) with a
contemporary design which acknowledges the history. It will be the focal point for the
streetscape;
Zone C looks to the future of mixed use residential and has a strong focus on street trees
and plantings;
Simple, yet elegant street furniture such as seats, rubbish bins and bus stops.
Key Features of the Design - Lighting
Lighting design to match streetscape, through selection of lighting poles of suitable height
located in centre median of Cambridge Street;
LED lighting proposed to provide consistent white light and reduce energy consumption;
Lighting design cannot be properly met with standard Western Power lights and poles, thus
the Town will own and maintain this area of street lighting;
Lighting will not adversely impact future developments.
Attached are key images of the proposed intersection treatments and landscaping architecture
outcomes.
Intersection Changes
The design has deliberately considered the need for Cambridge Street to maintain suitable
through road traffic movements under the new regime of full time single lane each way status.
Accordingly, the design proposes the following changes to key intersections:-

Whilst left turn exit is marked, the
proposed median design would allow
vehicles to make a right turn exit,
given the need to allow entry from
Cambridge Street (West)
