2. Television Systems
There are three different format systems for television broadcasting:
• NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) - the TV format used
in Canada, Japan, Mexico, Philippines, Taiwan, the United States and
other countries
• PAL (Phase Alternate Line) - the TV format used in most of Europe,
most of Africa, China, India, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, North Korea,
and other countries
• SECAM (Sequential Color with Memory) - the TV format used in eastern
Europe and France
Because videos formatted for one television system will not play on a television
operating under a different format, the system requirements note should include
information about the television system format.
