Summary: This is an intorduction to Bunraku <strong>The</strong>ater, containing<br />
information about the founders of Bunraku Takemoto Gidaya a musician<br />
and Chikamatsu Monzaemon a playwright; who brought the combination<br />
of Puppets, chanting stories and Shamisen together to become Bunraku.<br />
This documentary looks at the creative collaboration between Chikamatsu<br />
and Takemnoto and how they founded the Takaemoto <strong>The</strong>ater that lead to<br />
the "Golden Age of Bunraku". <strong>The</strong> role of the artist involved in a<br />
Bunraku Performance are also explained from the Narrator, who is the<br />
voice of all the characters, to the craftmen, who make the puppets. <strong>The</strong><br />
puppeteers themselves are three to a puppet, which is unique to Bunraku<br />
<strong>The</strong>ater.<br />

Troupe is one of the oldest families of the <strong>Japan</strong>ese traditional puppet<br />
theaters. Inherited from father to son it has been in existence for nearly<br />
350 years. <strong>The</strong> story tells of a miracle performed by the secural virtues of<br />
human love and fidelity as well as religious faith.<br />
