Nigerians abroad to acquire
such skills or to maintain
foreign expatriates in the

Human Resource problems

assists Students in funding

xv. The steady increase in the
number of Students and
Institutions participating in the
Scheme is a testimony of the
achievements of the Scheme.
From the foregoing, it will be observed
that the Fund's primary objectives of
generating a pool of trained and
skilled indigenous manpower
sufficient to meet the needs of the
nation's economy are being met to a
large extent through SIWES.
2.7 Summary of Literature Review
The review of literature on Students
Industrial Work Experience in Nigeria
and other countries are summarised
in this section:
1. Although, the practice of work
experience varies from
country to country, essentially,
they have the same goal,
which is to prepare Students of
Tertiary Institutions for the
world of work by providing
them the much needed onthe-
job practical experience.

Experience Organisations is
the World Association for
Cooperative Education,
founded in 1983 to foster
C o o p e r a t i v e E d u c a t i o n
programmes world-wide and
other work integrated learning
programmes.
3. Cooperative Education uses a
model that involves all parties
in the learning process,
namely; Students, Educational
Institutions and Employers
with the view of converging the
perspectives of teaching and
learning. It links and integrates
h i g h e r e d u c a t i o n w i t h
w o r k p l a c e l e a r n i n g
experience, provides Students
with motivation and promotes
