On-site fault finding and<br />
diagnosis<br />
With the current demand and strong<br />

diagnostic support for offshore wind farms<br />
located in UK as well as international<br />
waters.<br />
24/7 field support service<br />
In response, ZF Services UK Ltd provides<br />
a 24/7 field support service for offshore<br />
wind turbine operators through a team<br />
of specially equipped technicians with<br />
industry approved training in working at<br />
height and sea survival.<br />
Technicians are readily available to attend<br />
wind farms located in UK coastal waters<br />
and estuaries as well as worldwide. They<br />
assess gearbox component condition<br />
and undertake fault diagnosis by using<br />
the latest endoscopic equipment for<br />
determining the condition of gear teeth,<br />
bearings and shafts. Oil analysis is also<br />
used to detect abnormal and elevated<br />
particle content, which could be a sign<br />
of unusual bearing or gear wear. If<br />
necessary, high-speed bearing and shaft<br />
changes can be made in the field.<br />
Larger repairs and overhauls<br />
Where it is necessary to undertake<br />
larger planned or unplanned repairs and<br />
overhauls, gearbox units are shipped to<br />
ZF Services UK Ltd’s extensive workshop<br />
facility in Nottingham.<br />
All MW offshore gearboxes undergo<br />
rigorous full load testing on ZF Services’<br />
industry-leading 4MW test bench, which<br />
is dedicated to the repair and overhaul<br />
business and is located at the service<br />
facility in Dortmund, Germany.<br />
