JOY OF YOGA DAYS<br />

This is a wonderful opportunity for actively engaging in<br />

clearing away negative energy from ourselves in preparation<br />

for the seasonal festivities. <strong>The</strong> asana practice is designed<br />

to ‘flow away’ stagnation <strong>of</strong> our energy pathways and, in<br />

particular, the tension/trigger spots we tend to hold in the<br />

shoulders and lower back. <strong>The</strong> pranayama work will deepen<br />

this cleansing feeling. We can enjoy the fun <strong>of</strong> partner work<br />

to create lightness <strong>of</strong> spirit and round <strong>of</strong>f the day by focusing<br />

through chanting and meditation. This is a truly<br />

comprehensive programme in time for Christmas, to come<br />

away rejuvenated from the adverse effects on our energy<br />

levels from a long term, colder weather and darker days.<br />

Michele was introduced to yoga over 20 years ago and<br />

has taught for the past 10 years. She currently teaches in<br />

Brighton and holds workshops and retreats, and<br />

complements her yoga teaching by incorporating her<br />

knowledge as an injury therapist and clinical pilates teacher.<br />

This half-day workshop has been developed for<br />

BWY teachers to explore equality and diversity in<br />

the context <strong>of</strong> teaching yoga, and carries 3 CPD<br />

points. We will look at:<br />

• What equality and diversity language means<br />

and why it is important<br />

• Identifying barriers to participation in yoga<br />

amongst certain minority groups<br />

• How to provide solutions to these barriers<br />

• Equality law and its relevance to yoga<br />

teachers<br />

• How to challenge inequitable behaviour and<br />

be more inclusive<br />

As well as enhancing your own knowledge and<br />

understanding <strong>of</strong> these important issues, there will<br />

be the opportunity, via group work and discussion,<br />

for you to share your own experience.<br />
