JOY OF YOGA DAYS
This is a wonderful opportunity for actively engaging in
clearing away negative energy from ourselves in preparation
for the seasonal festivities. The asana practice is designed
to ‘flow away’ stagnation of our energy pathways and, in
particular, the tension/trigger spots we tend to hold in the
shoulders and lower back. The pranayama work will deepen
this cleansing feeling. We can enjoy the fun of partner work
to create lightness of spirit and round off the day by focusing
through chanting and meditation. This is a truly
comprehensive programme in time for Christmas, to come
away rejuvenated from the adverse effects on our energy
levels from a long term, colder weather and darker days.
Michele was introduced to yoga over 20 years ago and
has taught for the past 10 years. She currently teaches in
Brighton and holds workshops and retreats, and
complements her yoga teaching by incorporating her
knowledge as an injury therapist and clinical pilates teacher.
This half-day workshop has been developed for
BWY teachers to explore equality and diversity in
the context of teaching yoga, and carries 3 CPD
points. We will look at:
• What equality and diversity language means
and why it is important
• Identifying barriers to participation in yoga
amongst certain minority groups
• How to provide solutions to these barriers
• Equality law and its relevance to yoga
teachers
• How to challenge inequitable behaviour and
be more inclusive
As well as enhancing your own knowledge and
understanding of these important issues, there will
be the opportunity, via group work and discussion,
for you to share your own experience.
