Regional AGM ‘13
This year’s SE Regional AGM and Yoga Day will be held at Oaken Hall, Ditton
Community Centre, Ditton, Aylesford, Kent ME20 6AH, from 10:00 to 16:00 on
5 October 2013. The day is open to all SE Region members.
Yin & Yang Yoga
Our tutor for the AGM workshop this year will be Simon
Low, who has been teaching yoga for over 20 years. He
was the original director and a co-founder of Triyoga, the
UK’s most popular yoga studios. As principal of The Yoga
Academy, Simon now leads yoga teacher trainings,
workshops and holidays internationally throughout the
year. His friendly, focused and fun classes incorporate his
interpretation of Yin and Yang yoga, a practice enriched
with detailed teachings on anatomy, philosophy,
psychology, and Chinese and energy medicine.
Simon will offer us a complete, balanced, led-practice workshop where both Yin
(focusing on lunar, feminine, passive, deep, restorative, meditative practices) and
Yang (focusing on solar, masculine, strengthening, fluid dynamic movement) are
honoured equally. Within the ‘dance’ of these complementary opposites we
discover a more complete, holistic yoga practice.
In the Yang practice, circles, spirals and energy awareness will be infused
alongside attention to precision of alignment, often revisiting classical alignment
with fresh enquiry. Within the Yin practice, the calming ‘restorative’ and gentle
meditative asana will be balanced by deep Taoist yoga-inspired work into the
primary joints of the torso, connective tissue of ligaments and tendons, myofascial
trains and energy meridians. Both sessions will also explore a fresh approach to
core awareness and integrity. With breath and mental focus we cultivate
‘movement within stillness’ and ‘stillness within movement’.
Please bring your yoga mat, bolsters (the more the merrier), foam blocks, strap,
hand towel, blanket(s), a light lunch and a mug for hot drinks. Wear layered clothing
to ensure you do not get cold.
