What is different
a new modern “look and feel” and 1000 + NEW
bites of knowledge, examples and templates
>> The enhanced implementation methodology will empower you to ‘own’ the process and create internal TRACC
expertise, making you less reliant on external TRACC experts.
>> There is a heavier focus on ‘people’ issues and Standard Work throughout, which ensures engagement and
sustainability.
>> A deeper integration and codification of Implementation Actions and assessment measures aligns all continuous
improvement initiatives ensuring that Lean & Six Sigma is collapsed into the process.
>> All the training workshops now have detailed Facilitators’ Guides and lesson plans which ensure consistent
learning outcomes and clear linkages to Implementation Actions.
>> digiTRACC 5.0 now has Planner Drill-Down, easy Assessment Import and Export, a Library of Performance
Support tools, TRACC training workshop material (workshop slides and participant workbooks) and
a TRACClog to provide the TRACC team with greater feedback and new ideas.
TRACC V5 deepens the capability of your Continuous Improvement Managment System allowing you to
codify standards, replicate it and rapidly deploy best practice across all your operations.
During 2009 TRACC developers have
been collaborating with many clients,
global Continuous Improvement (CI)
experts and TRACC channel partners
to develop a new, cutting edge version
that incorporates all the latest trends
and thinking in the field of continuous
improvement.
Our development team collected
numerous micro trends and new
content bites. These were filtered
via a collaborative process and the
most powerful trends and ideas
were put through rigorous development
to ensure superior content.
More visual and interactive training material
New packaging for manuals and workshop
CONTENT
ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY
The original structure and overview was created in collaboration with Molson Coors/MillerCoors. For Version 5 we have strengthened the
integration with the Team Work, Focused Improvement and Autonomous Maintenance TRACCs and we have made it more generic for
implementation across any process industry.
Specifically, we have created linkages between cultural safety aspects to deepen the integration of EHS with other best practices, and we
have strengthened the support and training with structured support built into the Task Force, Team Leader and Team Training modules.
Site level training: Implementation Task Force
The development work on the version 5 Implementation Task Force focused on two areas – enhancing internal capability to deliver the
material, which was done through the creation of slide-by-slide facilitator notes for every module, as well as an overall module that
provides facilitators with all the upfront information and preparation required to successfully plan for and execute the training. The second
focus area was to bolster the material in terms of what the Task Force actually has to do to implement TRACC. We did this by adding detailed
process steps for each Implementation Action in Stage 2 – and support each step with photographs, examples and videos wherever possible.
Updating the Team Training, Team Leader Training and Specialist workshops involved a major redesign of the material. This
goes beyond ‘what looks nice’ to the functional aspect in terms of how Facilitator Guides enable trainers to customise material
with greater ease. Wherever possible, the workshop length has been reduced to decrease the periods of time team members
have to be released from the shop floor for training.
PLANS
Mapped TRACC assessments and plans, one of the best new features available on digiTRACC.
TRACC assessments and plans from Version 4 have now been mapped to Version 5. This allows clients to convert documents attached to
assessment criteria and plan actions to those same actions in Version 5, as well as any of their content attached to a TRACC or Stage.
This means that clients will not lose all of their old documents, allowing them to track trends. Clients can now create new
assessments for TRACC Version 5, but can still access assessments and TRACC material from previous versions.
36

5.0 -
5.0 - convert assessments
ASSESMENTS
5.0 - Mapped TRACC assessments and plans
When it comes to assessments, a new ‘Copy and Convert’ function has been included which allows you to convert an existing
Version 4 assessment to Version 5. You’ll need to ensure that the latest assessments you want to use for reporting and derived
assessment purposes, are converted to Version 5 — you can only derive assessments for a single TRACC version at a time.
A new ‘Move Client Content to Latest Version’ feature allows you to move any of your organisation’s documents to the ‘mapped’
location in Version 5. When using this feature, all your organisation’s Best Practice documents are moved to the latest TRACC
folders in the Document Tree, and Portfolio of Evidence (POE) documents are moved to Version 5 assessment criteria.
37

5.0 –
planner
5.0 – planner updates and sub-actions
UPDATES
-SUB-
ACTIONS
In the Planner, we’ve now included sub-actions for each Implementation Action and Stop ‘n Think. This will help you to get rid of all those
Excel spreadsheets that you have had to use in previous TRACC versions to keep track of the sub-actions.
To view sub-actions for a plan based on Version 4 assessments, you will first need to convert the Version 4 assessments to Version 5 using
the Copy and Convert function and then update the plan by selecting the Version 5 assessments.
When you update the plan, the Assessment Picker lists assessments by TRACC group, i.e. Version 4 assessments are listed separate from
Version 5 assessments. Another new Planner feature is the option to add Portfolio of Evidence (POE) documents to Planner action items.
The Planner view now shows if any documents are attached to an action item. The blue paper clip icon indicates that POE or best practice
documents have been added to an action item, whereas the green paper clip icon indicates that a TRACCkit library document exists.
38

5.0 –
USER
5.0 - user management updates
MANAGEMENT
UPDATES
To assist with user management, administrators can now move users from one area to another which will be extremely helpful, as people
move around organisations. To make communication to all users easier, an Email Address field has been included for digiTRACC users.
This field is now mandatory - you can’t add a new user without entering an email address, nor can you edit an existing user without also
adding their email address.
Also note that when users are added or edited, it’s possible to enter the user’s email address in the Username field. This enables them to
log in using their email address as their unique username.
39

FEEDBACK
system
5.0 - TRACClog, a nEw online feedback system
This is our new feedback and improvement system, where you can post your queries or suggestions and track the progress of your
feedback items. Types of feedback include Suggestions, Requests, Translation Errors and Complaints. To accurately identify your feedback
item, you select a Product Category, Version, Title, Component and Language. We will inform you of all item progress by automated email
feedback.
This will be extremely important for future versions of our TRACC products in that all suggestions, ideas and errors in existing versions will
be logged, and we will have one central place to use as a database.
