1. I started early and worked incrementally.

writing and revising the manuscript.
3. At key times along the way, I managed to find some
distance from my writing.
After listing your strengths, honestly assess your weaknesses.
Admitting one’s weaknesses can be difficult; however, it’s the all -
important first step toward self-improvement of any kind. For example,
I’ve identified three key weaknesses while writing this book:
1. Regular routines are important to me, and I was unable to
maintain a consistent time for daily writing.
2. I found myself procrastinating frequently, and this led to
unnecessary stress along the way.
3. I was unable to silence my inner critic and lower my
expectations with the first draft, which led to
procrastination, stress, and anxiety.
The third and final part of this step involves making a specific plan for
improvement. My list includes the following three items:
1. Create a regular reading and writing ritual, which
includes a specific time and place for work.
2. Lower my standards with the first draft in order to avoid
procrastination, which leads to stress and anxiety.
