Mercurvus (Merc) Boyd is an Electronics Technology Professor in the College of<br />

Engineering and Information Sciences and has been with <strong>DeVry</strong> since 1979. Previously<br />

working as a field service engineer, his emphasis is in industrial controls, sensors, applied<br />

physics, circuit fundamentals and applications. Merc received his Bachelor of Science in<br />

Electronics Engineering Technology from <strong>DeVry</strong> <strong>University</strong> and a Master’s degree in<br />

Industrial Technology from the <strong>University</strong> of Missouri-<strong>Kansas</strong> <strong>City</strong>. He actively<br />

participates as a mentor for the 1st Robotics Competition.<br />

Karl Crum is a Senior Professor teaching courses primarily in the Network and<br />

Communications Management program, such as Project Management, Programming/<br />

Scripting and Information Security. He has taught at <strong>DeVry</strong> for over 22 years. In a<br />

ten-year business career he worked for AT&T/Southwestern Bell as a technical support<br />

specialist and project manager; Electronic Data Systems (EDS) as a Regional Account<br />

Manager; and, with a small local firm as a business and communications consultant. He<br />

has also served in US Army Military Intelligence as an Interrogator with a language<br />

specialty of Chinese-Mandarin. Karl has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the<br />

<strong>University</strong> of <strong>Kansas</strong> and a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication<br />

from <strong>Kansas</strong> State <strong>University</strong>.<br />

Robert Diffenderfer is a Senior Professor teaching Electronics Engineering<br />

Technology at <strong>DeVry</strong> <strong>University</strong>-<strong>Kansas</strong> <strong>City</strong> campus for over 17 years. Prior to joining<br />

<strong>DeVry</strong>, Robert was with the Boeing Company in Seattle, WA designing electronics for<br />

military and commercial aerospace products. The designs consisted of analog/digital<br />

circuits for microprocessor based control systems. His experience has also included<br />

designing products at a hybrid technology manufacturing company. Robert received his<br />

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from John Brown <strong>University</strong>, AR, and a<br />

Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the <strong>University</strong> of Illinois at<br />

Urbana-Champaign.<br />

Rick Henderson is a Senior Professor in the College of Engineering and<br />

Information Sciences. He teaches courses in computer programming languages, digital<br />

signal processing and microcontroller hardware and software design. He has been<br />

teaching at <strong>DeVry</strong> since November, 1991. Rick worked as a design engineer in the<br />

<strong>Kansas</strong> <strong>City</strong> area prior to coming to <strong>DeVry</strong> and is listed as an inventor on three separate<br />

patents in the area of embedded systems designs. He has a Bachelor of Science in<br />

Electrical Engineering from the <strong>University</strong> of <strong>Kansas</strong> and a Master of Science in Electrical<br />

and Computer Engineering from the <strong>University</strong> of Missouri-Columbia.<br />
