This is a great workshop for anyone<br />
who loves working with clay. Each<br />
day will begin with the potter’s<br />
wheel in the morning and then<br />
with handbuilding in the afternoon.<br />
Projects will include different types<br />
<strong>of</strong> pottery such as cups, bowls and<br />
plates. We will also make sculpture,<br />
including sculpting from life and your<br />
imagination! Projects will be glazed<br />
and fired. Bring a lunch.<br />

ABC’s <strong>of</strong> <strong>Art</strong> is a multimedia<br />
class designed to inspire a young<br />
student’s imagination and interest<br />
in art. Lessons include drawing,<br />
painting, collage, printmaking,<br />
clay and sculpture. Foster a<br />
level <strong>of</strong> confidence and a sense<br />
<strong>of</strong> independence in your child,<br />
while increasing their skill level<br />
in accordance with their age and<br />
developmental stage.<br />
<strong>Art</strong>ventures!<br />
for Preteens ages 12 to 15<br />
One-Week Intensive Day Classes<br />
<strong>Art</strong>Ventures! for Preteens aims to meet<br />
the needs <strong>of</strong> our preteen students who<br />
are looking for learning opportunities that<br />
are challenging and fun. These classes<br />
are designed to introduce students to a<br />
variety <strong>of</strong> disciplines that are taught at the<br />
<strong>Art</strong> Center including drawing, painting,<br />
weaving, photography, cartooning, jewelry<br />
making and pottery.<br />

Animal Mosaics<br />

Study and practice the ancient art <strong>of</strong><br />
mosaics. Apply your own dynamic<br />
visual ideas to the art <strong>of</strong> mosaics while<br />
incorporating traditional glass pieces<br />
and handmade clay elements into your<br />
own animal mosaic panel. Be inspired<br />
by a visit to the <strong>Currier</strong> <strong>Museum</strong>’s<br />
interior mosaic courtyard and indoor<br />
Winter Garden Café.<br />

Felting - Come Get Your<br />
Wool On!<br />

Enter the world <strong>of</strong> felt and be amazed<br />
by the endless possibilities <strong>of</strong> this<br />
natural fiber. Looking at technique<br />
and color this class will cover needle,<br />
wet and Nuno felting. Projects will be<br />
a mixture <strong>of</strong> art and wearable pieces<br />
with the opportunity <strong>of</strong> combining<br />
and building upon techniques<br />
learned through the week. If you<br />
want fun, you want felt!<br />
Session 2<br />
Black and White<br />
Photography for Preteens<br />
Instructor: Pam Difloures<br />
9 am-noon<br />
$250, Maximum 6 students<br />
Learn the basics <strong>of</strong> traditional black<br />
and white photography in this<br />
introductory course for middle school<br />
students. Subjects include: the proper<br />
use <strong>of</strong> a 35mm camera, the study <strong>of</strong><br />
design elements and principles, the<br />
creation <strong>of</strong> strong compositions and<br />
the production <strong>of</strong> your own prints.<br />
Rental cameras are available upon<br />
request for an additional $15<br />
Sculpture for Preteens<br />
Instructor: Pam Difloures<br />
1–4 pm<br />
$225, Maximum 8 students<br />
Students will use a variety <strong>of</strong> mixed<br />
media including paper mache, clay,<br />
wood, plaster, and recycled materials.<br />
Inspired by the abstract and figurative<br />
sculptures on the <strong>Currier</strong> campus<br />
students will create abstract and<br />
realistic sculptures on a larger scale.<br />
