<strong>Spring</strong> Vacation Week APRIL 22-26<br />

Vacation<br />

art camps<br />

For Kids ages 5 to 14<br />

The <strong>Art</strong> Center hosts a week-long<br />

Vacation <strong>Art</strong> Camp for children ages<br />

5-14 years during the spring school<br />

vacation. Multimedia art activities<br />

include painting, drawing, printmaking,<br />

sculpture, pottery and art appreciation. This program is popular with<br />

families who are seeking an enrichment experience for their children<br />

while school is out <strong>of</strong> session. We organize the Vacation Week <strong>Art</strong><br />

Camp around themes that are commonly found in the visual arts and<br />

the <strong>Currier</strong> <strong>Museum</strong> collections. Enrollment is limited so register your<br />

child promptly! Children aged 6 to 14 (1st grade +) register for a full<br />

day, from 9 am-3 pm. 5 and 6 year olds (Kindergarten - 1st grade)<br />

have the option <strong>of</strong> mornings only, from 9 am to noon.<br />

Forts, Teepees and Settlements<br />

April 22 - 26<br />

In conjunction with the exciting spring exhibition<br />

Abigail Anne Newbold: Crafting Settlement at<br />

the <strong>Currier</strong> <strong>Museum</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Art</strong> our young artists will be<br />

making art, crafts and live-in dwellings. Rooted in<br />

ideas <strong>of</strong> self-sufficient living and inspired by New<br />

England craft traditions, our campers will imagine<br />

and build their own settlement in the backyard <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>Art</strong> Center, facilitated by our instructors and<br />

inspired by Ms. Newbold’s museum installation.<br />

Using found objects and elements from nature, and<br />

incorporating arty materials, we will collectively build<br />

the ultimate kid camp from the structures we live in,<br />

to the utensils we eat <strong>of</strong>f <strong>of</strong>, and so much more!<br />

Full Day Tuition: $270 Half Day Tuition: $160 After Camp Care is available from 3-4:30 pm for an additional $30.<br />

Vacation art<br />

Intensives<br />

For Teens ages 14 to 18<br />

Monday - Friday<br />

Immerse yourself in art! These classes are open to students aged 14 to 18 <strong>of</strong> all<br />

levels <strong>of</strong> ability. These courses are perfectly suited for students wishing to develop<br />

a portfolio and looking for greater challenges in the studio. All art supplies are<br />

provided for these courses unless otherwise noted. Course prices include art supply<br />

costs and modeling fees where applicable.<br />

Acrylic Painting for Teens<br />

Instructor: Monique Staples<br />

9 am-noon<br />

$200, Maximum 10 students<br />

Students will explore still life and photograph-based imagery using<br />

the versatile medium <strong>of</strong> acrylic paint. This water-based and quickdrying<br />

medium is perfect for young students who are seeking<br />

greater skill in their ability to paint. Students will be encouraged<br />

to paint larger imagery on canvas surfaces, and will be exposed<br />

to many fine paintings from the <strong>Currier</strong> collection. Paints, brushes,<br />

and canvas not provided. A supply list is available.<br />

Wheel Throwing Intensive<br />

Instructor: Lauren Dadmun<br />

1-4 pm<br />

$250, Maximum 8 students<br />

Through exploring various techniques on the potter’s wheel,<br />

this class will focus on the art <strong>of</strong> vessel making. Some <strong>of</strong> the<br />

forms we will make include cups, bowls, plates and lidded<br />

containers. We will also learn different methods <strong>of</strong> surface<br />

design such as glazing, carving and sgraffito. This class is<br />

for beginners as well as for those who want to build upon<br />

any previous wheel throwing experience.<br />
