Happy New Year and welcome to 2013 at the Yacht Club. We hope the holiday season has been kind
and relaxing for you.
January has been a fairly busy month in the galley. Firing up the month was the RL National
Championship. Talk about a massive week. We had over 90 people camping on our grounds, all of
whom needed feeding and watering after a busy morning of sailing. The RL crew were a fantastic
bunch of families who did everything they could to support our club. Many games of pool, cricket and
bocce were had, it was really wonderful to see the club being used by all age groups (a few of our club
kids benefited from the odd lesson in pool from the teenage RL sailors!) A big thank-you has to go out
to the galley crew and also Helen (coffee maker extraordinaire) and Richard (our snake chaser) for the
mammoth effort put in by all.
The club has also seen another increase in activity with
our beautiful space being used by a new emerging club.
An open water swimming club (still to be named) is in
the process of forming. They have had a few very
successful swims over the holiday period, bringing more
life (and money) to our club. They will be spending the
rest of the season boosting the numbers of our Friday
social night with a swim kicking off at 6pm each week.
Any Yacht club members are very welcome to join them.
All abilities welcomed and encouraged.
Due to the unforeseen success of our fantastic Yardarm
Café and Bar, we are putting out a call to members to
join the Galley sub-committee. We are looking for more
enthusiastic people to join our crew. If you love our club,
and can spare some time either over the weekend or
week we would love to hear from you. No experience is
needed, just a desire to help this club recover from 10
years of drought. Ilse and myself (Rhena) would like to
hear from you, we will be holding a meeting planning the
last couple of months on Saturday,2nd February at 2pm.
‘Yardarm Café and Bar’ Opening hours
Friday - 5pm till late, Saturday – 12pm till 6pm, Sunday 7:30am till 6pm.
The closing time may be extended on the day to suit guests.
Signing off for now
