A RARE MILITARY SABRE IN THE EAST EUROPEAN<br />
TASTE, LAST QUARTER OF THE 16TH CENTURY,<br />
PROBABLY STYRIAN<br />
with curved blade formed with a double-edged hatchet<br />
point for its last third, cut with a broad shallow fuller on<br />
each side and struck with an eye lash mark (rubbed) on one<br />
side, steel hilt comprising a pair of long straight tapering<br />
quillons of near square-section, a pair of long langets<br />
extending over the blade and into the grip, beak-shaped<br />
cap pommel (the hilt lightly pitted), and retaining its original<br />
leather-covered wooden grip<br />

and into the grip, thumb-loop, flat pointed pommel cap,<br />
and retaining its original leather-covered wooden grip<br />
