Sale of By-Products:<br />

During <strong>2011</strong>-12, ever highest sales value of<br />

By-Products of ` 533 Cr was achieved. This value<br />

represents a growth of 47% compared to ` 363 Cr.<br />

achieved during the previous year.<br />

& Bhopal. The rural marketing network was increased<br />

by registering 137 new Rural Dealers during the year.<br />

The per<strong>for</strong>mance on widening Marketing Distribution<br />

Network helped RINL in achieving "Excellent" rating<br />

on this parameter in the MOU <strong>2011</strong>-12 with the MOS.<br />

Total Marketing outlets of RINL in <strong>2011</strong>-12, including<br />

Branches, Stockyards, CSA, DLD, RD, Retailers, etc.,<br />

increased from 428 to 496, a rise of 16%.<br />

E-Marketing:<br />

In line with the company's objective to promote<br />

transparency, a specified quantity of material is put on<br />

e-auction sales. The auctions are conducted every<br />

month. This also helps <strong>for</strong> price discovery. During<br />

<strong>2011</strong>-12, total quantity put on e-auction amounted<br />

to ` 308 cr.<br />

Further, 188 no. of reverse e-auctions, valuing ` 158<br />

cr. were conducted <strong>for</strong> finalization of road transportation<br />

contracts <strong>for</strong> movement of materials from plant and<br />

stockyards.<br />

Inventory:<br />

Steady sales throughout the year helped in<br />

maintaining steady inventory levels. During the year,<br />

the inventory of pig iron reduced by 7,000 tonnes and<br />

saleable steel by 1.5 lakh tonnes.<br />

Rural Marketing:<br />

The RINL-Rural Dealership scheme (RDS), which was<br />

introduced in <strong>2011</strong> helped in improving sales to the<br />

untapped rural market.<br />

During <strong>2011</strong>-12, direct sales in Rural areas through<br />

District Level Dealers (DLDs) and Rural Dealers (RDs)<br />

registered a growth of 187%. At the end of Mar. '12,<br />

the number of Dealers stood at 318, consisting of 70<br />

DLDs and 248 RDs.<br />

Growth in the sales to rural market through Rural<br />

Dealership Scheme indirectly helps the socially weaker<br />

sections i.e. SC, ST, OBC and Women by encouraging<br />

the Dealers to improve their earnings.<br />

Market Share:<br />

RINL is the market leader in Long Products (Bars, Rods<br />

& Structurals) in the country. During the year <strong>2011</strong>-<br />

12, the share of RINL stood at 8.4%.<br />

Marketing Distribution Network<br />

During the year <strong>2011</strong>-12, four new Consignment Sales<br />

Agents were appointed at Guwahati, Agartala, Jabalpur<br />
