Women employees have been associated in<br />
appropriate Committees providing them an<br />
opportunity <strong>for</strong> development. Special programmes <strong>for</strong><br />
women employees have been organized by HRD<br />
directly and also through the Forum of Women In Public<br />
Sector (WIPS) which was <strong>for</strong>med in the Company in<br />
1997 under the aegis of SCOPE. Training and<br />
Development programmes aimed at career<br />
advancement, women empowerment, personality<br />
development, gender sensitization, safety awareness,<br />
occupational health, osteoporosis awareness,<br />
interpersonal skills, computer skills, communication<br />
skills, capacity building, work life balance, leadership<br />
and safe and healthy living etc. have been organized<br />
during the year, covering about 294 women<br />
employees.<br />

In pursuance of the Hon'ble Supreme Court's<br />
Judgement and keeping in view the Government<br />
instructions/guidelines on sexual harassment of women<br />
at work places, a Committee headed by a woman<br />
officer was constituted to inquire into the complaints<br />
of sexual harassment at work places. A provision in<br />
this regard has also been incorporated in the Conduct,<br />

Discipline and Appeal Rules / Standing Orders of the<br />
Company. During the year, no incidence of sexual<br />
harassment of women or discrimination amongst<br />
women employees on the basis of gender has been<br />
reported.<br />
Progressive use of Hindi:<br />
For effective implementation of Official Language Policy,<br />
various activities have been undertaken during the year<br />
<strong>2011</strong>-12 as under:<br />
Committee of Parliament on Official Language<br />
conducted inspections in New Delhi Regional Office<br />
and RINL Headquarters on 9 th May, <strong>2011</strong> and<br />
28 th Sept., <strong>2011</strong> respectively. The committee<br />
appreciated the activities undertaken at RINL towards<br />
Official Language implementation. All the assurances<br />
were fulfilled within the specified time period. In line<br />
with the directives received from Ministry, Unicode was<br />
enabled <strong>for</strong> working in Hindi on computers and used<br />
in Headquarters and various Subordinate Offices.<br />
Training towards the above has been further<br />
strengthened and extended to outstation offices.<br />
269 employees were trained in two batches under<br />
Hindi Prabodh/Praveen courses. 127 employees were<br />
trained in Hindi Workshops conducted at<br />
Visakhapatnam and Mines. Hindi classes were<br />
conducted <strong>for</strong> housewives of Ukkunagaram under<br />
Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha courses. An<br />
intensive Translation course was also organized in<br />
Regional Office, Mumbai with the help of Central<br />
Translation Bureau, Govt. of India wherein the<br />
representatives of all the Branches of Western Region<br />
have participated. To create an environment and<br />
interest towards Hindi amongst employees, a Hindi<br />
Hasya Kavi Sammelan was organized with the help of<br />
poets of National repute.<br />
A National Level Hindi Seminar in Official Language was<br />
organized on 'Promoting Usage of <strong>Steel</strong> in Rural Areas'<br />
in which representatives from various Organizations<br />
participated. On this occasion, a Special issue viz.<br />
'KHAPAT' consisting of articles from delegates was<br />
released. 4 issues of quarterly Hindi Magazine<br />
'Sugandh' and Hindi version of in-house News Magazine<br />
of VSP 'Ukkuvani' were published during the year. Hindi
