Flooding in the Yavapai, Hualapai, Camp Verde, Lower Camp Verde, and Middle Camp Verde Indian Reservations was included only as it pertained to flooding in surrounding areas. Outlying areas of Tonto National Forest, Coconino National Forest, and Prescott National Forest were not studied due to the lack of development in these areas (FEMA, 1999). Minguez Wash, originally designated for detailed study; the study of the wash was terminated because the extent of the drainage-basin area contributing to this stream channel was less than one square mile, and the floodplain was less than 200 feet in width (FEMA, 1982). Approximate analyses were used to study those areas having low development potential or minimal flood hazards. The scope and methods of study were proposed to, and agreed upon, by FEMA and the communities. The current revision incorporates the results of mappable LOMCs (i.e., Letters of Map Amendment and LOMRs) issued by FEMA for the projects listed in Table 3, "Letters of Map Change." It is bounded on the north and east by Coconino County, on the east by Gila Counties, on the south by Maricopa County, and on the west by Mohave and La Paz Counties. The City of Prescott is the county seat and is located approximately 97 miles north of Phoenix (U.S. Department of Agriculture, 1978). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2008 the population estimate for Yavapai County was 215,503 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2009). 12
