2.2 Community Description<br />
Yavapai County encompasses approximately 5.2 million acres in north-central<br />
Arizona. It is bounded on the north and east by Coconino County, on the east by<br />
Gila Counties, on the south by Maricopa County, and on the west by Mohave and<br />
La Paz Counties. The City of Prescott is the county seat and is located<br />
approximately 97 miles north of Phoenix (U.S. Department of Agriculture, 1978).<br />
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2008 the population estimate for<br />
Yavapai County was 215,503 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2009).<br />
