Indication
Treatment of adult & pediatric patients (> 6 yrs) with type 1 diabetes mellitus OR
adult patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus who require basal (long-acting) insulin
for the control of hyperglycemia.
Dose
For insulin-naïve patients with Type II diabetes: 0.1-0.2U/kg OD in the evening or
10 units OD or BD. Single dose given in the evenings
For patients currently receiving only basal insulin or basal-bolus insulin,
conversion from other basal insulin can be done on a unit-to-unit basis.
