From the Pre-Prep
Rugby
Blu Sexton Chadwick and Wiliam Meek contributed brilliantly to the New Milton
Rugby Under 7’s recent ‘A’ team tournament in Winchester which placed their team
in a fabulous second place. Well done boys! We are always delighted to celebrate
our children’s success and are proud of their achievements both in school and at
home.
Cake Sale
On Monday we had a cake sale to raise money for young, homeless people in the
area. At playtime the children had the opportunity to buy and eat delicious cakes
which had been donated from home. What a treat!
Eden Perkin masterminded and organised the whole event (with a little help from
Miss Wilkinson!) We were delighted with her ingenuity and kind heart. All of the
children were involved and the cakes came pouring in on Monday morning. She
raised £87.65 for New Forest Nightstop. Thank you to all of the kind parents who
supported this great cause by baking. We could not have done it without you.
Please do not forget the Charity Station by the Pre-Prep Hall where you can donate
unwanted items for others who are in need.

Dance Show
Last week’s Pre-Prep Dance Show was a huge success and our children performed brilliantly.
It was an amazing event involving children from Kindergarten to Year Two. After a
week of dance with Mrs Patch, the children took part in a wonderful show which made us
all smile, laugh and delight in their talent. An overwhelming surge of emotions overtook
many of us as we watched and a few tears were shed! The DVD is now available and is
superb, another opportunity to see the children in action once again.
These and other Jim Pascoe Photos and the DVD of the dance show are available
from him. JIM PASCOE PHOTOGRAPHY 01425 611890 www.jimpascoe.co.uk

Farm Visit
Millers Ark Farm visited the school on Thursday. The excitement was tangible amongst
children and staff as the animals began to appear. Upper Kindergarten children were particularly
thrilled as they watched from their prime viewing spot over the fence, from the
moment they arrived until the moment they left the playground. We all donned our wellies
and waterproofs as we went outside to see the donkey and her new baby, sheep, lambs
and all sorts of other delightful farmyard creatures. It really brought to life all of the work
that the children have been doing in class this week with our Creative Curriculum about
Farms.

Talk on Nutrition
3G were really lucky to enjoy nutritionist Sophia Moore’s talk on ‘Food
Glorious Food’ on Thursday morning. The children put food into different
food groups, including simple and complex carbohydrates. They learnt
about how to choose foods to keep them healthy, alert and ‘hunger free’
for the whole day. The talk concluded with some delicious treats to try, including
crudités and nutritious dips, oat cakes, goat’s cheese and hot
tofu sausages. It was a scrumptious morning!
From the Library
An encouraging number of children have borrowed several books for the
holiday – Happy Reading! A big plea from the Library to parents – your
children have been given several opportunities to return outstanding
books, some have been on loan for more than 3 months! If your child
has a very overdue book, they will have been presented last week with a
reminder showing exactly which book is overdue. Could you please encourage
them to share this information with you and have a good look
over half term for the the missing book(s) at home. Many thanks. In your
half term envelope you will find an entry form for a ‘Design a Bookmark’
Competition for ages up to 16 years old run by National Book Tokens. All
entries have to be sent in by Mrs Brebbia so please return them to her in
the week after half term – the deadline is written on the entry form. The
prizes will be decided nationally and the overall winning entry will be
published and distributed throughout bookshops in the UK. The prizes
will also include book tokens for the school and the winners so do encourage
your children to enter if they wish to do so.
