Patrick HollySpecial mention: Nat GoreGIRLSGym CompetitionThe girls enjoyed a very successful afternoon of Gymnastics on Wednesday whenthey took part in the <strong>Durlston</strong> Inter house Gymnastics competition. 54 girls qualifiedfor the finals. There were 5 disciplines; the individual floor routine, the trampette,the vault, the beam and the Group Routine.36 Bronze, 46 Silver and 29 Gold certificates were awarded to pupils from years 3– 8.Three gold medals were awarded to Flora Lingafelter, Abbie Rowsell and AmyWilson for achieving three or more gold certificates over all of the disciplines.The house results are as follows:1 st St Patrick with 125 points2 nd St Andrew with 118 points3 rd St George with 113 points4 th St David with 83 points.The top five gymnasts are:1 st = Flora Lingafelter and Abbie Rowsell with a maximum of 20 points each.3 rd Amy Wilson with 19 points4 th Ella Whettingsteel with 18 points5 th = Olivia Perera and Gabriella Wood with 17 points each.They have all been awarded their gymnastic badges and colours – well done, Girls!


From the Pre-PrepThe children have returned to school bright and bubbly and on the whole, well. Somany have been poorly during the holidays and many more during the AutumnTerm, so we are very hopeful for a healthy Spring Term.Kindergarten are very excited about their new fence which really helps to ensurethat our youngest children have the perfect facilities for safe, exciting and secureoutdoor activities.All of the children are delighted with the new lazy grass in the playground and haveused it well all week. It has really transformed their play and afforded them manymore opportunities for adventure.Kindergarten has welcomed a number of new children this week and we are delightedthat they are now part of the <strong>Durlston</strong> family. In addition we have all welcomedMrs Gilly Smith who joins us as a Teaching Assistant in Year One. Gilly hashad a wonderful first week!Mr and Mrs Perkin (Eden’s parents) are off to Sierra Leone on a Wings of Mercymission next Wednesday. They have requested any spare laptops that may besurplus to your requirements to help the school they are visiting. If you are able tohelp please could they have any equipment by Tuesday 15 th <strong>January</strong>. Thank you.From the LibraryThe children have clearly been reading a great deal over the holidays, judging bytheir Holiday Competition entries! It is lovely to know that the desire to read a goodbook can still (sometimes!) outweigh the temptations of a gadget. The first proposedParent/Staff Reading Group is due to take place next Wednesday 16 th <strong>January</strong>at 6pm.
