From the Pre-PrepWhat fun Year 2 had with the Year 6 children when they came to visit us at playtime!Building a nest for the birdsA game of ballKindergarten Coffee MorningIt was good to see so many parents and tinytots at this terms coffee morning. Tea, coffee, pastries and lots to talk about! From the LibraryOur pupil librarians are busy on a variety oftasks this term: some are working on the recataloguingof our heaving non-fiction section; our youngest are creating a weeklythemed book display on a topic of their choice; others are responsible for keepingthe news board up to date; and the rest are busy planning their ‘in the hot seat’ interviewswith their chosen members of staff! The new Boggle and Ntropy gameshave been in great demand and this week’s displays entice pupils to try an adventure, humorous or ‘classic’ story. More and more children are recording their viewsabout books they have read, onto Junior Librarian, our library computer system, sothat others can read them before deciding whether to borrow a particular book.An appeal: in conjunction with the Rotary Club of New Milton, we would like to collectbooks to send to African schools which have no library. In the past, donationsfrom Durlston Court families have helped to supply the 13 school libraries that havebeen stocked so far under this scheme, giving access to English books to over13.000 children. Mrs Brebbia will coordinate the collection which must be ready fordispatch by the end of this term. If you have any unwanted books that are suitablefor children with a reading age of approximately 6 – 10 years (the children usethese books to learn their English) then please send them in to the Library. Pleasenote that religious or geographical material cannot be included so please excludethese types of books. There is a delightful photo in the Library of a young boy enjoyingone of the books sent over previously – do come and take a look.
