Indicator 4: Do women receive a home visit or telephone call within 10 days of
discharge
According to the Queensland Health Universal Postnatal Contact Initiative, gold standard care is defined as women being
contacted by a care provider (either by telephone or by home visit) within 7-10 days of discharge from hospital.
We asked: “In the first 10 days of being at home with your baby, did any of the following happen...” Women could indicate that
they were telephoned by a midwife or nurse and/or received a home visit from a midwife or nurse, or that they were not
contacted by a midwife or nurse.
The graph displays the percentage of women who said they were telephoned by a midwife or nurse and/or received a home visit
from a midwife or nurse, as well as the percentage of women who received neither a telephone call nor a home visit, in the first
10 days of being at home. Three shades of red are used in the graph to represent the different types of gold standard care
reported by women.
