locks required for each SFS directory you plan to use. This will give you the
total number of 4K blocks required. You should also keep track of the 4K
block requirements for each user ID as well.
You'll need this information if you need to enroll any Licensed Product user
IDs in the VMSYS filepool, or if you need to increase the space allocated to
an existing user ID.
Note: If you have created your own PPF override file, you should use your
PPF name instead of $NNNNNNN.
2 Enroll any required Licensed Product user IDs in the VMSYS filepool by using
the ENROLL USER command:
ENROLL USER userid VMSYS (BLOCKS blocks
where userid is the actual user ID to be enrolled and blocks is the number of
4K blocks required for this user ID, that you calculated previously.
Note: The ENROLL USER must be issued from a user ID that is an
administrator for the VMSYS filepool.
3 Determine if there are enough blocks available in the filepool to install the
Licensed Product. This information can be obtained by using the QUERY
FILEPOOL STATUS command. Near the end of the output from this command is
a list of minidisks in the filepool and the number of blocks free. If the number
of available blocks is smaller than the total available 4K blocks needed for
this Licensed Product, you will need to add space to the filepool. See the
z/VM CMS File Pool Planning, Administration, and Operation manual for
information on adding space to a filepool.
4 Create the subdirectories listed in the $NNNNNNN PLANINFO file using the
CREATE command with the DIRECTORY option.
set filepool vmsys:
create directory dirid
dirid is the name of the SFS directory you are
creating, such as:
CREATE DIRECTORY dirid
If necessary, see the z/VM CMS Command and
Utility Reference for more information about the
CREATE DIRECTORY command.
Note: Subdirectories, when required, must be created from the respective
user IDs.
5 Give SFS READ (and in some cases, WRITE) authority for each directory to
those user IDs for which it's appropriate, using the GRANT AUTHORITY
command.
