2. Such units may be created or special arrangements may be made, inter alia, for<br />
the following:<br />
a) Collection of Intelligence directly or indirectly affecting National Security,<br />
State Security, Maintenance of Law and Order, Maintenance of Public<br />
Safety or Prevention of Crime, Security of Vital Installations and<br />
individuals facing grave threats from terrorist or extremist violence;<br />
b) Investigation of especially complicated cases, heinous crimes or<br />
sensational cases and any case of special importance;<br />
c) Traffic Control;<br />
d) Coastal, River and Backwater Policing and Policing for the protection of<br />
tourists;<br />
e) Policing on the Railways;<br />
f) Collection, collation, indexing storing of data and intelligence relating to<br />
crime and criminals and analysis thereof and the establishment of a<br />
Bureau of Missing Persons;<br />
g) Helping police offices and officers in selecting, using and utilizing<br />
computers and other digital services and developing software necessary<br />
for the purpose;<br />
h) Maintaining the telecommunication and digital communication networks<br />
for police purposes;<br />
i) Identification of individuals and property by means of fingerprints,<br />
photography, or any digital or biometric technique;<br />
j) Maintaining a well-trained reserve force with a proper chain of<br />
command to be deployed whenever and wherever the district police or<br />
the local police stations fall short of manpower in the proper discharge<br />
of any police function;<br />
k) Training of recruits and refresher training of those in service and<br />
general training in policing related matters to any other individual or<br />
group as may be decided by the Government;<br />
l) Specialised response units like control rooms equipped to respond to<br />
distress calls relating to crime, calamity or accident;
