c) Order any person who, in the opinion of the police, if left to continue his<br />

activities unbridled, will carry on activities prejudicial to the maintenance<br />

of Law and Order, to leave a given area and confine himself to some<br />

other area for a period not exceeding one week, and keep the police<br />

informed of his whereabouts in the manner prescribed by the police;<br />

d) Suspend all arms and explosive licenses and direct the licensees to<br />

deposit their weapons with the police;<br />

e) Search any person or vehicle or container entering or leaving the area;<br />

53. Procedure for Arrests:<br />

1. The police officer making the arrest shall caution the arrestee that he is being<br />

placed under arrest and inform the grounds of arrest.<br />

2. The arrestee must be informed of his right to have someone informed of his<br />

arrest as soon as he is put under arrest.<br />

3. The police officer carrying out the arrest shall prepare a memo of arrest at the<br />

time of arrest and such memo shall be attested by at least one witness if available,<br />

who may be either a member of the family of the arrestee or a respectable person of<br />

the locality from where the arrest is made. It shall also be countersigned by the<br />

arrestee and shall contain the time and date of arrest.<br />

4. The arrestee shall be also examined at the time of his arrest with due regard for<br />

decency, and visible injuries, if any present on his person, must be recorded at that<br />

time in an "Inspection Memo" signed both by the arrestee and the police officer<br />

effecting the arrest and its copy provided to the arrestee.<br />

5. The police officers carrying out the arrest and handling the interrogation of the<br />

arrestee shall carry appropriate identification and the arrestee shall be at liberty to ask<br />

for such identification.<br />

6. An entry shall be made in the diary at the <strong>Police</strong> Station regarding the arrest of<br />

the person.<br />

7. A person who has been arrested and is being held in custody in a <strong>Police</strong> Station,<br />

shall be entitled to have one friend or relative or other person known to him or having<br />

interest in his welfare being informed, as soon as practicable, that he has been
