4. No person will be arrested or kept in custody in any manner under this section<br />
merely for the reason that the identity given by such person is to be verified.<br />
43. <strong>Police</strong> Access to Private Places: Every police officer shall have due<br />
access, with due regard for custom, decency, privacy and propriety, for good and<br />
sufficient reason for which such officer shall be personally accountable and<br />
responsible, to any private place, for the purpose of ensuring safety or for averting<br />
imminent danger,<br />
Provided that such officer shall, as far as possible, try to get the co-operation<br />
and consent of the person in charge of the premises before exercising this right.<br />
44. <strong>Police</strong> to Interpose to Prevent Crime:<br />
1. Any police officer present at the spot shall, to the best of his ability, interpose<br />
and stop any criminal activity going on or about to take place in his presence or<br />
proximity.<br />
2 For this purpose he may lawfully demand and accept the services of any able<br />
bodied adult male and no person shall disobey, without reasonable cause, a lawful and<br />
reasonable direction so given by a police officer present on the spot.<br />
45. <strong>Police</strong> to Give Reasonable Directions:<br />
1. All persons shall be bound to comply with the reasonable directions given by a<br />
police officer in the discharge of his duties under this <strong>Act</strong>.<br />
2. In order to ensure compliance with any direction of law or in lawful discharge of<br />
any duty cast upon any police officer by this <strong>Act</strong> or any rule, regulation or order made<br />
there under, a police officer may<br />
a) Caution a person who is about to commit an offence punishable under<br />
any law or any Rule or Order made under any law;<br />
b) Require any person to comply with any law which prescribes the manner<br />
in which such person should act either with regard to himself or another<br />
person or with respect to any thing under his charge;
