CONCERT AND LECTURE PROGRAM<br />
College regularly invites speakers of note to The address the<br />
student body on subjects of general or scholarly interest. A<br />
series musical and dramatic programs features only members<br />
of not<br />
of [he Departments of Music and Drama, but outstanding<br />
guest artists. One of annual events is the concert by the<br />
the<br />
National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Howard<br />
Mitchell.<br />
Expenses<br />
Western Maryland College has always attempted to keep its<br />
within the reach those students coming from families with<br />
fees of<br />
moderate incomes, so that its educational program will not be<br />
restricted to the wealthy. In these days increasing price and<br />
of<br />
wage levels such a policy has been extremely difficult, and the<br />
following charges, which are less than those of many independent<br />
colleges like caliber, are made possible, without impairing the<br />
of<br />
quality of the college program, only because of the liberal support<br />
of the Methodist Church, contributions from business and<br />
industry, and the generous help of many our alumni and<br />
of<br />
friends.<br />
The tuition charge for full-time student is $325 per semester.<br />

Students carrying less than 12 semester hours are not coosidered<br />
full-time students and are charged $20 per semester<br />
hour. Board and room charges (depending on room selection)<br />
range from $287.50 to .$312.50 for a semester. (The College reserves<br />
the right to increase the amount for board if food costs<br />
rise.) An extra tuition charge is made certain courses in Art<br />
for<br />
and in Dramatic Art, where there is individual instruction, and<br />
for private instruction in voice, piano, organ, violin, and other<br />
instrumen~. These fees are listed under the course descriptions.<br />
A regisu-auon fee of $15 is charged each new student. An<br />
advance deposit $50 on the room and board charge is required<br />
of<br />
annually from each boarding student prior to the opening of<br />
the first semester upon notification from the College. The above<br />
fee and deposit are nor refundable.<br />
An activities fee of $35 is payable annually. Laboratory and<br />

of all boarding students entitling them to the services of the nurse<br />
and the use of the infirmary up to seven days. A charge of $1.50<br />
per day is made for use of the infirmary in excess of seven days.<br />
