The completely furnished, very well-preserved Taufers Castle
is among the largest and most beautiful castles in all of Tyrol.
Children have a great time at the “hands-on armoury”. Art
lovers will enjoy the frescoes by Renaissance artist Friedrich
Pacher, while romantics will be thrilled by the picture book
castle complex itself. The castle administration draws visitors
throughout the year with special exhibitions, cultural events,
and a castle tavern in the inner courtyard.
NEUHAUS CASTLE
Gais
A hilltop, a picturesque inner courtyard, and a castle
tavern: that is Neuhaus Castle. More charming than
defiant, and yet the home to great spirits: Oswald von
Wolkenstein spent several years of his restless life here
around 1520, and the famous American poet Ezra
Pound also found a refuge for himself and his family
here during the turmoil of the Second World War.
Today the castle houses a hospitality establishment.
