Your Hesed Committee
Creates and Supports
Acts of Lovingkindness and Justice
Adath Jeshurun
Congregation
Hesed Committee serves as an
umbrella structure for social justice
projects ranging from direct service to
advocacy. The values on which Hesed
Committee has focused its support
predominantly involve hunger,
affordable housing, and children.
Our goal is to encourage broader
participation among our congregation
in support of Hesed’s work through
both active participation and financial
support. The Hesed Committee can
only extend its reach with your help.

The Mission of the Hesed Committee
is to coordinate
and
provide opportunites
for acts of justice and
lovingkindness
within the synagogue
and in our communities
"Lovingkindness endures
forever." Psalm 89:3
Since its inception in 1988, Adath
Jeshurun's award-winning
Hesed Committee has provided our
congregation with dozens of programs
exemplifying "grace" and "lovingkindness",
common translations of the
Hebrew word hesed. Involvement in the
Hesed Committee is both within and
beyond our congregation, and is seen not
only as an obligation but also as an
invaluable opportunity to rebuild
community and repair our world.

Rabbi Kravitz has been on the Board of
MICAH and has served as its president.
Rabbi Kravitz serves on the Board of
MAZON.
Rabbi Brusso has served on the Boards of
The Joint Religious Legislative Coalition
and of Jewish Community Action.

Dear Congregants:
From food shelves to advocacy for the
homeless, from helping educate newly arrived
Ethiopian Jews in Israel to providing
transitional housing for single mothers and
their children in Minneapolis, the Hesed
Committee has created dozens of programs
designed to help repair our world.
We have watched with pride and gratitude as
the Hesed Committee has established itself and
successfully encouraged our congregation’s
involvement in issues of social concern. We are
grateful for the time people have committed to
these efforts and to the generous support that
has come from our congregants.
We hope that each member of our
congregation will take the time to get involved
in some aspect of the Hesed Committee’s
work that is making a difference in the lives of
so many.
