Mobility for the 21st Century
As the middleweight force, we are light enough to the point of friction
quickly, heavy enough to carry the day upon arrival, and capable of operating
independent of local infrastructure. Initiated in 2008, the Marine Corps
founded the Ground Combat and Tactical Vehicle Strategy. It provides a basis
for planning, programming, and budgeting the ground maneuver and mobility
capabilities and needs for the Marine Corps as America’s Expeditionary
Force in Readiness – a balanced, air-ground logistics team. We are forwarddeployed
and forward-engaged: shaping, training, deterring, and responding
to all manner of crises and contingencies. This Strategy guides planning for
the right mix of vehicles capable of supporting the spectrum of operations.
