if there’s such thing as the Club aging gracefully,
that is thanks to our hardworking Grounds
Committee. The beautiful landscapes and well
kept grounds complement our continuing
renovation of the premises.
MPC presents the “ning de Vera Tree”
in honor and appreciation of more than 20 years
of dedicated work as Grounds Committee Chair,
the board of Directors and the house Committee
named the largest narra tree on the rotunda
fronting the club house as the “ning de Vera
Tree”. a brass plaque has been mounted at the
base of the tree to commemorate this honor.
Mr. De Vera also received a certificate of
recognition signed by the Club president,
Mr. roman azanza, Jr. on april 20, 2012.
Out of kindness and concern for Club members plus a
dash of inspiration from his wife, Mr. Carlos perez-rubio
designed the new hardscape near the 50-meter pool.

Through the help of our grounds personnel headed by
Julio “batang” Gutierrez, what used to be an unsightly
area of green blocks is now turned into a refreshing
sight of colorful shrubs, flowers and creative wood
formation.

Mr. perez-rubio shares “I was given full range to utilise
what is available. The expectation was high despite low
or almost no budget. We only used about two bags of
cement. We never bought anything else. We just used
whatever scraps we found around the Club. We utilised
different elements of nature. The group of Batang is very
instrumental. His team is exceptional, just five or six, but
each one is integral. They are my ten other eyes. I give
