3. The applicant shall not participate in the examination. Radiographic procedures are accomplished<br />
in a specific way. Any disruption <strong>of</strong> this routine may affect the outcome <strong>of</strong> the examination.<br />
4. Applicants must follow the instructions <strong>of</strong> the supervising technologists. Technologists are<br />
responsible for the safety <strong>of</strong> applicants as well as patients.<br />
5. Applicants must follow general safety procedures regarding x-rays:<br />
a. Should an applicant be pregnant during the observation period, she should notify the<br />
supervising technologists so proper precautions may be taken.<br />
b. Applicants must step behind the lead barrier <strong>of</strong> the radiographic room during radiation<br />
exposure with the exception <strong>of</strong> fluoroscopy or portables.<br />
c. When portable procedures are observed, the applicant must wear lead protective apparel and<br />
stand as far from the patient and x-ray tube as possible.<br />
d. When fluoroscopy procedures are observed, applicants must wear lead protective apparel.<br />
6. Applicants must observe and note the general responsibilities and interaction <strong>of</strong> the radiologic<br />
technologist with patients and indicate their findings on the observation form.<br />
7. Applicants must complete the observation form and return it to<br />
the program director’s <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />
The completed questions are used in the student selection<br />
process. (Hand written submissions<br />
will not be accepted.)<br />
Student Selection Criteria<br />
The applicant to the Program must submit an application form<br />
by February 1st <strong>of</strong> the year the applicant wishes to enter the<br />
Program. Each applicant must also submit high school transcripts,<br />
college transcripts, SAT or ACT scores, a completed observation form, and references to complete the<br />
application process. The applicant must assure all submissions necessary for application to the Program<br />
are in the Program Director’s <strong>of</strong>fice no later than February 20th.<br />
The Admission Coordinator will review the application <strong>of</strong> each applicant prior to the interview date and<br />
advise the applicant in writing <strong>of</strong> areas <strong>of</strong> deficiency in meeting application requirements.<br />
The Selections Committee will extend invitations to applicants who meet the admission criteria for<br />
interviews for positions in the Program. The Committee will provide interview dates to applicants in<br />
writing.<br />
The Program will <strong>of</strong>fer an interview time to applicants pending resolution <strong>of</strong> any deficiencies by a<br />
specified cut <strong>of</strong>f date. Applicants must demonstrate completion <strong>of</strong>/or enrollment in courses identified as<br />
the prerequisites for the Program before being scheduled for an interview.<br />
