absences for the purpose <strong>of</strong> this policy.<br />

An absence occurs when a student misses more than one-half <strong>of</strong> his or her assigned shift for class<br />

or clinical assignment or leaves before completing his or her assigned shift without prior approval. A<br />

technologist must initial the student’s time card to acknowledge that the student left with approval. A<br />

half-day absence will be identified when a student was present for class for at least four hours <strong>of</strong> the<br />

scheduled day.<br />

Tardy<br />

A student is considered late (tardy) if he or she clocks in more than 5 minutes (8/100) after the time<br />

scheduled. Tardiness is also defined as failing to clock in on time card or failing to have the supervising<br />

technologist initial Clinical Hours Form.<br />

When a student is tardy for more than 1 hour beyond the scheduled time without a justified reason, the<br />

student will lose one half a day <strong>of</strong> vacation time.<br />

Unexcused Tardy<br />

Documentation <strong>of</strong> five incidents will result in the loss <strong>of</strong> one half day <strong>of</strong> vacation day. Each succeeding<br />

three unexcused tardies will result in the loss <strong>of</strong> an additional half day <strong>of</strong> a vacation time. The program<br />

will intervene using the corrective action policy with the student who has ongoing issues with unexcused<br />

tardies regardless <strong>of</strong> the loss <strong>of</strong> vacation time.<br />

Early Departure<br />

An early departure is one in which the student clocks out before the scheduled end <strong>of</strong> his or her shift<br />

(more than 20 minutes) unless instructed to do so by his or her supervisor and that supervisor has<br />

initialed the time card. Early departure is also defined as failing to clock out at the end <strong>of</strong> the assigned<br />

day or failing to have the supervising technologist initial time card or Clinical Hours Form.<br />

Attendance procedure<br />

Students shall clock in for all <strong>of</strong> the following: clinical experiences, didactic classes, mandatory<br />

meetings, or as designated by the Program Director.<br />

Arrival and departure times will be determined by the time on the time recording system. Out <strong>of</strong><br />

department clinical assignments requires the supervising technologist to initial clock in and clock<br />

out times on the Clinical Hours Form. Out <strong>of</strong> department clinical assignment are described as<br />

Mammography, Radiation Therapy, RWPC–Orthopaedics, RWPC–Family Practice/Internal Medicine, Box<br />

Butte General Hospital, Torrington Community Hospital and Morrill County Community Hospital. All<br />

other clinical assignments require students to clock in and out using the time clocks and individual time<br />
