While we have spoken with many centenarians who were in assisted<br />
living homes, most were still cared for <strong>by</strong> family members and some<br />
still lived alone. With only a few exceptions, those who were in<br />
assisted living homes had a close relative who lived near<strong>by</strong>, visited<br />
regularly and made certain that they were receiving good care.<br />
