MTA member Refined
Motor Body Repairers
became the first business to
receive level 3 Green Stamp Plus
Environmental Accreditation.
The Salisbury-based member
recieved recognition of their
great environmental
management practices on March
29 2010.
Owners Jim and Sue Bryant
have been running the business
for 20 years and understand the
benefit of good environmental
practices.
Environmental Accreditation
provides businesses with a
marketing tool to demonstrate to
customers their commitment to
good environmental
management.
Refined Motor Body Repairers,
a small business achieving big
things, highlights how with a bit
of enthusiasm it is not difficult
to achieve best practice
environmental management.
Refined Motor Body Repairers
received level 3 accreditation by
meeting criteria such as washing
vehicles in a wash bay, having
liquid wastes removed by a
licensed contractor, using parts
from Auto Parts Recyclers,
having an environmental
management system and
environmental policy and
Over a dozen members, with
strong support from the
Collision Repairers Division,
participated in the free
Ecomapping assessments in
February and March 2010.
Members received site specific
information on environmental
management from MTA
Environmental Project Officer.
Ecomapping is a self auditing
tool which assesses the
environmental management
practices of a business using a
‘mud map’.
The Ecomapping sessions
provided members with the
opportunity to set up their own
environmental management
obtaining 10 per cent of their
electricity from Green Power.
Refined Motor Body Repairers
may be the first member to
receive Green Stamp Plus
Environmental Accreditation but
they will not be the last as many
other members continue to work
towards level 2 and level 3
accreditation.
Both level 2 and 3
accreditation provides members
with acknowledgement of their
efforts in going beyond legal
compliance.
Achieving level 2 or 3
accreditation not only provides a
business with recognition but a
certificate, sign, fliers to hand
out to customers and the
business details will be listed on
the Green Stamp Plus website
and the MTA website.

MTA free Ecomapping sessions
system, completing one of the
compulsory criteria for the Green
Stamp Plus Environmental
Accreditation.
Members received a map of
their premises highlighting
environmental management
improvements that could
be made.
An action plan was also
provided allowing members to
prioritise the improvements.
Members received advice
and guidance to help
improve hazardous substance
storage, wash bays, Occupational
Health and Safety and
environmental management
practices.

CDs available, which outline the
step by step process of
Ecomapping and the
Ecomapping guide book is

under the members only tab in
the environmental management
section.
The Environment Protection
Authority of SA offer free
Ecomapping training sessions
every month.
