Celebrate Carers Week at CARE Melton Expo
To celebrate Carers Week (16 – 22
October), Melton Shire Council is
hosting CARE Melton 2011 – Carers
Access Resources EXPO.
The Expo will be held on Wednesday
19 October 2011, 10am – 2pm at the
Melton Community Hall, 232 High
Street, Melton.
Over 30 exhibitors will feature at the
expo including Diabetes Australia,
Djerriwarrh Health Services, Merrimu
Services, Norwood Association,
Autism Victoria, and Alzheimer's
Australia.
The theme of this year's expo is
'Accessible Transport' with both
community and public transport
providers participating including Myki,
Metro Travels Aid and Transport
Connections.
Melton Shire Council Mayor, Cr Justin
Mammarella JP, encouraged
residents to attend the Expo.
“Residents who are interested in
finding out more about programs,
services and support that is available
to them are encouraged to come
along and explore the expo and enjoy
the range of workshops.”
Family Relationship Services for
Carers will also be hosting a free
information workshop on Wills and
Estates Planning to help carers to
better plan for the future of the person
they care for.
Artist Peter Cave will be
demonstrating his painting skills and
encouraging participation of people
with a disability and carers in the arts.
A silent auction including four of
Peter's outstanding works will take
place during the Expo.
There will be free 25 minute relaxation
workshops with a complimentary yoga
mat provided for those interested in
learning how to become more relaxed
and refreshed.
Copies of 'A Guide to Disability and
Aged Services in the Shire of Melton'
which provides information on over
200 support and care services will
also be available at the Expo.
A light lunch and refreshments will be
provided and there will be
entertainment by the Stiletto Sisters
and community groups.

Caesia Gardens hosts BBQ celebration
Local retirement community Caesia Gardens will be throwing open its
doors to the wider community on Sunday, October 23 with the village
hosting a BBQ Street Party to celebrate the villageʼs newly released
homes.
For those considering retirement living,
the BBQ Street Party will be a great
opportunity to see firsthand what life is
like at Caesia Gardens – one of Lend
Leaseʼs vibrant retirement villages.
“As part of the day we will have a
sausage sizzle, a roving jazz performer,
childrenʼs entertainment and the villageʼs
new bocce field will be open for games,
as will the bowling green and outdoor
chess set. It promises to be a lot of fun,”
said Gail Monument from Caesia
Gardens.
“Weʼre certainly looking forward to introducing our wonderful village to
the wider community and weʼre extending the invitation to anyone who
would like to come along.”
Guests will also be invited to tour the new units available as part of
stage five of the community.
