INTRODUCTION
Each staff member of Coolum Beach Christian College has responsibilities related to
health and safety.
These responsibilities need to be clearly communicated to all staff members to fulfil
their legal obligations.
THE WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER
The responsibility of the Workplace Health and Safety Officer is to ensure that the
principal is fully informed as to the status of health and safety in the College and to
assist in formulating strategic policies as requested by the Principal.
Develop policies and procedures as required by the Principal.
Implement the policies and procedures.
Ensure adequate training is provided where necessary.
Ensure adequate resources are available to facilitate duty of care.
Monitor direct and indirect costs associated with accidents.
Communicate safety responsibilities and periodic review to all staff.
Ensure accidents are investigated, recorded and reported on and appropriate
measures are instigated to minimise recurrence of accidents.
Distribute pertinent health and safety information.
Maintain a sound working knowledge of relevant legislation.
Ensure effective safety inspections and auditing.
Ensure fire emergency training is performed.
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
Ensure readiness of emergency equipment.
Ensure prompt medical care for injured person.
