Exciting times for Lake Erie Regional<br />

Health System of New York<br />

Healthcare in New York has always had<br />

its ups and downs. But, within the last year<br />

or so Lake Erie Regional Health System of<br />

New York (LERHSNY), which is the<br />

active parent of Brooks Memorial Hospital<br />

and TLC Health Network, has been implementing<br />

some major changes that will help<br />

improve the quality and availability of<br />

healthcare in Western New York for years<br />

to come.<br />

NEW FACILITIES AND FACILITY<br />

UPGRADES<br />

Since the massive flooding in 2009 that<br />

resulted in the loss of Tri-County<br />

Memorial Hospital, LERHSNY has been<br />

working to reestablish some of TLC Health<br />

Network’s facilities and services. <strong>At</strong> this<br />

point, a brand new Urgent Care & Medical<br />

Center has been opened in Gowanda and<br />

various plans are under review for a<br />

replacement facility in Perrysburg as well.<br />

Construction of a new, permanent location<br />

for Tri-County Medical Office in<br />

Forestville is also well underway as is the<br />

planning for a $1.9 million renovation of<br />

the Emergency Department at Lake Shore<br />

Health Care Center in Irving.<br />

NEW PHYSICIANS AND LEADER-<br />

SHIP<br />

“An essential element of our organization’s<br />

strategic plan is to ensure the continued<br />

expansion and availability of high<br />

quality physician and leadership talent,”<br />

states Jonathan I. Lawrence, MHA,<br />

FACHE, LERHSNY President and CEO.<br />

New members of the medical staff include<br />

Dr. Tawsufe Majid - OB/GYN; Dr. Ellen<br />

Fitzgerald-Farkas, Ophthalmologist; Dr.<br />

Eram Chaudry, Cardiologist; Dr. Hussein<br />

Merza, Internal Medicine; Dr. Majiid<br />

Peerzada, Internal Medicine; and Dr.<br />

Vikram Sodhi, Family Practice.<br />

Anesthesiologist Dr. William Ehrman will<br />

also be coming on board later this year. In<br />

leadership roles, Jarrod G. Johnson, MBA,<br />

FACHE and Linda Summers, FACHE,<br />

MBA, OT were appointed as Chief<br />

Operating Officers at Brooks Memorial<br />

Hospital and TLC Health Network, respectively.<br />

NEW PARTNERSHIPS<br />

To support all of the changes and<br />

growth across LERHSNY, key partnerships<br />

were established to maintain<br />

momentum and to ensure LERHSNY<br />

achieved its stated goals. One of the important<br />

partnerships LERHSNY formed is<br />

with the Advisory Board faculty based in<br />

Washington D.C. to assist in developing a<br />

variety of management skills throughout<br />

the leadership team. <strong>The</strong> nationally<br />

renowned Studer Group has also begun<br />

working with LERHSNY to ensure the<br />

highest levels of patient satisfaction and<br />
