Jim and Louise Pullan purchased the W.I. Blystone Company on Blackstone Avenue in 1981, changing its name to Jamestown Mattress. Jim Pullan, a Jamestown native, already knew the bedding industry from his experience serving as Vice President of Niagara Therapy. His newly formed company supplied bedding to Niagara Therapy, thus getting the business it needed to help it get started. The Pullan sons, Bruce, Steve and Jim, continue to be very active in the day-to-day operations of the business. When the company started out, it had three employees.
