The Audi plant in Ingolstadt is not only the company’s biggest production facility,
it is also home to the Head Office and Technical Development Division. The tasks
performed by this division include the development of engines (power units and
transmissions), design, electrics/electronics development, body and chassis development,
through to the development of the total vehicle. This tour will give you
the chance to have a look at Audi’s Wind Tunnel Centre which comprises three test
rigs: the aerocoustic, the thermal and the climatic wind tunnel. The tour ends with
a visit to the company’s own mobile museum.
The BMW Group Research and Innovation Centre (FIZ) was set up in 1986 and
was soon recognised as one of the car industry’s most advanced development
centres. The complex honeycomb layout was revolutionary at the time and today
still fulfils its purpose perfectly. It does not only facilitate communication among
associates, but actively encourages such communication through its architectural
design – it is “custombuilt for communication”. Take this chance to get inside the
“technical heart” of BMW.
This day gives you the chance to take a look behind the scenes of BMW. During
a guided tour through the BMW World you will receive exciting insights into the
company and learn more about the fascinating architecture of the building. You
will visit the home plant of the BMW Group and experience live how the company
produces individual cars according to customer requirements with passion and precision.
Experience how parts are produced from heavy coils of steel, how they are
assembled into a car body and painted. Follow a car on its way to completion, from
the wedding of engine and car body to various quality tests. The tour will be completed
with a visit to the BMW Museum.
