What we said we would do during 2009/10<br />
25 <strong>Plan</strong>ning the delivery of an operational response for the<br />
management of safety and risk at all venues<br />
What we have done so far<br />
Proposals for meeting command and control requirements are being drafted. Initial meeting with other blue<br />
light services indicates that all three services’ command and control plans will dovetail. <strong>Plan</strong>s for staffing the<br />
National Olympic Co-ordination Centre are being drafted following attendance at a multi agency project<br />
board meeting.<br />
Operational planning proceeding based on concept of operations principles. Olympic Security <strong>Safety</strong> Risk<br />
Assessment released following Ministerial sign off, hazards and threats identified being incorporated into<br />
planning assumptions. Work ongoing with the <strong>London</strong> Organising Committee of the Olympic Games<br />
(LOCOG) on development of concept of operations for the Olympic Park and as part of Venue Operational<br />
<strong>Plan</strong>ning Process.<br />
26 <strong>Plan</strong>ning the delivery of a co-ordinated community<br />
safety and fire safety regulation programme to reflect<br />
the numbers and diversity of the population growth in<br />
<strong>London</strong> and the surrounding areas for the Olympic<br />
period<br />
27 Ensuring that the development of all Olympic venues<br />
incorporates the best fire safety engineering providing<br />
design freedoms to promote safety, innovation and<br />
value<br />
Involved in Community Relationships and Prevent projects from the Olympic <strong>Safety</strong> and Security<br />
Programme. Full time personnel in place developing CS strategy for the Olympics.<br />
Involved in consultation and FSR work at all Olympic venues under construction ensuring suitable fire<br />
service access and suitable water supplies to and around the Olympic Park and all Olympic venues.<br />
Attend <strong>Safety</strong> Advisory Groups for all Olympic venues meetings and deal with matters that arise from it.<br />
Work has now spread outside of the Olympic Park with initial planning taking place for an external venue<br />
(Greenwich Park).<br />
AIM 3 RESPONSE – <strong>Plan</strong>ning and preparing for emergencies that may happen, and making a high quality, effective and resilience response to them<br />
28 Roll out of the new national digital radio scheme<br />
(<strong>Fire</strong>Link) for the fire and rescue service in <strong>London</strong><br />
Senior officer radios operational as of 3 August 2009. Appliance Radio and Mobile Data Terminal (MDT)<br />
fitment commenced 3 August 2009 and is expected to be completed March <strong>2010</strong>.<br />
