Cloncurry celebrates the
opening of a new community hub
Cloncurry has capped off the August opening of the $8.1 million Cloncurry Community
Precinct with the return of the town’s iconic Dazzle Ball.
The ball returned as part of the
opening celebrations for what has
become the community hub of
Cloncurry. Bringing back some of
the ball’s most loved old traditions, like
the infamous group photo in the Shire
Hall, ensured the event was a hit with all
300 tickets sold out.
The Cloncurry Community Precinct
provides a modern space and functional
facilities for our community. Ernest Henry
Mining (EHM) contributed $2.75 million
to the project, which includes the EHM
function rooms, the Bob McDonald Library,
the Dr David Harvey Sutton Art Gallery, a
catering area, and the refurbishment of the
historic Cloncurry Shire Hall and Council
Chambers, making it our biggest social
infrastructure partnership to date.

EHM, says investing in and supporting
our local community is an important part
of the way we do business.
“Our contribution towards the
Precinct reaffirms our commitment to
supporting growth and development of
the town benefitting current and future
generations,” Myles says.
Andrew Daniels, Mayor of Cloncurry,
says the project was an important
milestone in Cloncurry’s development.
“Opening this Precinct marks a start
of new prosperity for our community.
With this premier facility we can not only
provide top class venues, recreational
and learning facilities for our community
but attract new business to our town,”
Cr Daniels says.
