MINUTES OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING THURSDAY 11 TH FEBRUARY 2010 Present: Apologies: Kathleen O’Connor, Anne Buggie, Norma Booth, Paddy Bates, Majella Ffrench O’Connor, Mary Mahon, Dinah Kingsley, Marie Moran, Anne Marie Ryan, Jim Enright, Rosemary Day Mary McCarthy, Frank Bates, Ann Young, Niamh Campion, Camille King and John Moran CHAIRPERSON’S ADDRESS The Chairperson noted that finances were a constant challenge, but the continuation of the services of Laois Education Centre was extremely important to all teachers, as they offered essential support and up-to-date information. She congratulated the Centre on being so inclusive of all schools and pupils in their programmes and projects. She thanked the Management Committee, especially Paddy Bates for his work with the Centre website, Jim Enright, Director, and the staff of the Education Centre, for all their work throughout the year TREASURER’S REPORT The Treasurer reported that expenditure had been reduced by €111,000 but that there was still a deficit of €31,000. She thanked Áine Hyland for her input into the production of accounts. The adoption of the accounts was proposed by Mary Mahon and seconded by Majella Ffrench O’Connor. DIRECTOR’S REPORT The Director gave a full and comprehensive report on the extensive activities of the Centre in 2009: these were detailed in the Annual Report. ADOPTION OF REVISED CONSTITUTION The adoption of the Revised Constitution was proposed by Norma Booth and seconded by Mary Mahon. 2
