He asked if more infrastructure would be needed to support safety concerns, such as onsite generation, etc. He would like to know more about such things as the project moved forward. Councilor Schamp confirmed with Staff that the aquifer would not be so deep that 50- degree water would be heated to 180 degrees. Councilor Heinrich stated pumps like those used for irrigation at deep well farms would likely be used to retrieve the water. City Manager Drake noted City Engineer Keyes had reviewed the bid submittal, adding a great wealth of knowledge exists in the County and jurisdictions do get together and share information. City Engineer Keyes agreed ASR was a great idea and worth exploring. He said the real question was whether Cornelius had an aquifer; if so, the City could store a lot more water and have a lot more flexibility. But, the aquifer has to be in the right place. A motion was made by Councilor Crowder that the City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with Ground Water Solutions, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $7,000 to conduct the ASR feasibility analysis proposed in the attached memo, and the funds are to be taken from the Water Fund contingency, seconded by Council Schamp. Motion carried 5-0. Ayes: Councilor Heinrich, Councilor Orozco, Councilor Crowder, Councilor Champ, and Mayor Dalin. City Manager Drake noted the a broad list of legislative items he sent to the Councilors from the League of Cities (LOC), adding that LOC wants the City’s top four items by the end of July. He believed the list could be a subject at Thursday night’s Western Washington County Cities’ meeting at Pumpkin Ridge, so he sent the list and related material for Council’s review. The meeting was an opportunity for general discussion to help the LOC move toward refining the legislative agenda. He believed the LOC’s lead lobbyist would be there. He would probably come to Council in a work session in July to see about narrowing down the list. 10. COUNCIL ANNOUNCEMENTS A. June 30, 2012 – Veteran’s Memorial Park Dedication 10:00 am. Discussion regarded the events at the dedication and whether there was time for a speech from the Council. B. July 9, 2012 – City Council Meeting 7:00 pm. Council and Staff discussed adjusting the schedule of upcoming agenda items so all Councilors could be present for substantive items. Following discussion, Mayor Dalin confirmed that on July 16, Council would have a 30-minute business meeting followed by a 90-minute work session. The July 2nd and July 9 th meetings were cancelled. 11. ADJOURN MEETING A motion was made by Councilor Heinrich to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Councilor Orozco. Motion carried 5-0.
