Then I drill (and file if necessary) an opening in the cap to fit<br />
the shank of the tool. After fitting the tool to the handle, I<br />
polish the cap and spray it <strong>with</strong> a clear sealer to keep it looking<br />

Here is a quick method of marking the amount of corner stock<br />
to be removed from a square blank you want to turn on a lathe.<br />
Simply lay a 12-in. ruler diagonally across the timber <strong>with</strong> the<br />
zero mark aligned <strong>with</strong> one edge and the 12-in. mark aligned<br />
<strong>with</strong> the opposite edge. Then mark points at 3Yz in. and 8Yz in.<br />
Lines drawn through these points and parallel <strong>with</strong> the stock's<br />
edges will indicate dle amount of stock to be removed to con-<br />
After drilling a couple of chair-seat spindle holes at the wrong<br />
angle, I came up <strong>with</strong> a simple solution to improve my angle<br />
alignment accuracy. Using a flexible steel rule, I followed the<br />
line of the drill bit to the back of dle drill, and <strong>with</strong> a fine-point<br />
felt marker, drew a horizontal axis line across the case seam at<br />
the center of the back. This gives me a perfect bull's eye to line<br />
