půle 90. let pomáhali českou
literaturu pro děti a mládež
vyprošťovat z pasti reedic,
braku a chronického nedostatku
rukopisů, které se
v nejlepším případě snažily
otevřít témata do roku 1989
tabuizovaná, ale mnohdy při
tom působily neaktuálně,
anebo trpěly nánosem didaxí.
„Podstatným rysem dětské
literatury by naopak
měla být pomoc v normálním
životě. Ponechme dětem
víc odpovědnosti za sebe
sama, protože řešení je v jejich
moci,“ připomíná spisovatelka,
jejíž prózy mezi řádky
diskutují o moderním
stylu výchovy, o boji se sebou
samým i o strachu čapnutém
za pačesy. Protože obav se
nejlépe zbavíš tím, že je prožiješ
a poznáš, kolik v nich
bylo pouze kouřové clony.
Aprotože vnitřní síla a nadě-
je, která umírá až poslední, dávají v součtu vždycky víc než
pasivita a ruce bezvládně zdvižené nad hlavu.

In the publishing and economic stagnation of the first
half of the nineties, Procházková’s sensitive heroes have
significantly contributed to saving Czech literature for
children and young people from the traps of reprints,
thrash and chronic lack of manuscripts, which had at best
attempted addressing topics that were taboo before 1989,
but at the same time often seemed out-of-date, or suffered
from too much didactism. “What should, on the other
hand, be an essential feature of children’s literature, is
a helping hand in normal life. Let us grant children more
responsibility for themselves, because solutions are within
their reach,” says the writer, whose prose
discusses, between the lines, modern
approaches to education, struggles
one has with oneself, and fear
caught off-guard. Because the
best way to get rid of fears is to
live through them, and realise
how much of them was just
smoke screen. And because inner
strength and hope – which is
always the last to die – add up to
more than passiveness, and hands
helplessly lifted above one’s head.
