Knižní ilustrace na křižovatce hodnot
ouběžně s demokratizací poměrů se v poslední dekádě
20. století bouřlivě vyvíjela také česká literatura pro
děti a mládež. Ve srovnání s předchozími desetiletími se
výrazně proměnily společenské akcenty, bariéry i objednávky,
došlo k liberalizaci distribuční sítě, padla faktická
nadvláda obřího nakladatelského domu s příslušnou
gescí a vznikla řada nových vydavatelských subjektů.
Vrátili se dříve proskribovaní autoři, literární kontext
se ustálil novými či prvními vydáními prací dříve trpěných
nebo zakázaných tvůrců. Kvas první poloviny dekády
i obavy o uhájení existence původní domácí tvorby
tváří v tvář razantnímu nástupu pokleslých žánrů
apermanentnímu nedostatku financí na ambicióznější
projekty vytvořily obecný status quo soudobého
knižního trhu. Od poloviny 90. let se však tato situace
postupně stabilizovala do té míry, že můžeme
hovořit o konstituování nových pilířů domácího
nakladatelského podnikání směrem k dětskému
čtenáři. Je to zvlášť významné z toho důvodu,
že politické i ekonomické transformace po
roce 1989 zrelativizovaly mimo jiné i zažitou
strukturu autorské hierarchie a začalo se nedostávat
jasných hodnotových kritérií. Dramatická
absence úplných a věrohodných informací
postihla hlavně kritické hodnocení
nastupujících autorů.
Dokážeme-li literární produkci pro děti
a mládež v letech 1990–2003 s vědomím těchto

na šibalském výrazu, který původní

Book Illustration at a Crossroads of Values
As the political situation took a turn towards democracy in
the last decade of the 20th century, a similarly dramatic development
was taking place in the field of Czech literature for
children and youth. The social accents, barriers and needs
had shifted considerably compared with the previous
decades, the distribution network had liberalised, the
reign of specialised giant publishing houses had dissolved,
and a number of new publishing houses was
founded. Formerly proscribed authors had returned, literary
context became stabilised by both new and first
editions of works by authors both tolerated and
banned in the past. The bustle of the first half of the
decade, fears for the future existence of original Czech
literature facing an onslaught of trivial production,
and permanent lack of finance for more ambitious
projects combined to create the general status quo of the
then book market. Since the mid-1990s, however, the situation
has consolidated to such an extent, that we can
talk of new pillars being constituted of the Czech
child readers publishing business. This is all the
more significant considering that the post-1989
political and economic transformation has made
relative – among other – the established structure
of author hierarchy, and a lack of clear value criteria
was beginning to be felt. The dramatic absence
of detailed and trustworthy information has caused
the most damage in the field of critical assessment
of emerging writers.
