14.1 Quality assurance of pharmaceuticals: a compendium<br />
of guidelines and related materials<br />
The Expert Committee was informed that a CD-ROM had been produced<br />
containing a compendium of all current <strong>WHO</strong> guidelines and related materials<br />
on quality assurance.<br />
14.2 Strategy<br />
All areas of <strong>WHO</strong> had been requested to prepare strategies that would guide<br />
their future activities. Members of the Expert Committee were invited to propose<br />
elements that could be included in the future strategy of QSM.<br />
Topics raised included:<br />

biosimilars, which relate both to biologicals and pharmaceutical<br />
preparations, through increased liaison and collaboration with the<br />
Expert Committee on Biological Standardization;<br />
increased collaboration between pharmacopoeias and<br />
harmonization;<br />
increased availability of international expertise to national<br />
laboratories (in particular in view of the increased need to identify<br />
SFFC drugs);<br />
facilitation of training for NMRAs;<br />
prioritization, especially to retain and maintain the current core<br />
activities in this area.<br />
